Mud Sound Protocol (MSP) is Here !
MSP allows you to hear sounds while playing the Medieval Times. The are usually little
snippets of sound that will hopefully add enjoyment to your mudding experience. This is
an optional feature. You must enable MSP in your 'toggle' with the ~ character.
In order to hear the sounds you must be using a MUD Client that supports Mud Sound. Most
of the popular ones do.
How to get Setup...
First: Setup your MUD Client's Sound Configuration. This usually involves specifying a
directory for the sound files, and checking an Enable box.
Second: Click Here and download the MT Sound Achive. It
is in .tar format and should be openable with WinRAR or WinZip. Extract the files to
your Mud Sound Directory you specified inthe First Step.
Third: Login to the mud and enter the Toggle switchboard and enable MSP. You are good to go.
If you do not like the supplied .wav made when playing, you can feel free to replace it with
whatever .wav you wish. Simply keep the name the same, and your Client will play your sound.
For example: if you do not like the sound of a door locking and unlocking, and have found a better
one, just delete the existing one, and put your's in the directly and naem it the same.
Known Issues:
Some MUD clients have ~ as a reserved character (like zMud), so please escape it or
disable the Client's parsing of the ~ character so you can properly turn on and off MSP
in your toggle
In WinTin95 the sound will play, but you will see a messages like this:
The driver cannot recognize the specified command.
!!SOUND(sounds/xxx.wav)
I do not know why it does this. And I don't think it can be fixed. If you do know of a way please
let us know.
